- Add a layer of chana dal use 1/2 only to make another layer, then add a layer of washed rice, one layer of dark brown onion, another layer of saute mixture, chana dal and rice.
- Add 3 cup water for rice and extra 1/2 cup water for chana dal. Cover the lid until 2 whistle. Let the khichdi cook on high flame.
- After 2 whistle open the the lid and serve khichdi with raita, achaar, salad.
